Join us this week for one of our worship services! In the reading from the book of Jonah, God changes his mind about punishing Nineveh for their evil ways, and Jonah is angry about this change; while in the reading from Philippians, Paul writes from prison that God is gracious and merciful, abounding in steadfast love. Then in Matthew’s Gospel reading, Jesus tells a parable about God’s generosity, challenging the common assumption that God rewards people according to what they have earned or deserve. Sunday morning worship begins at 9:00 am. For those who are unable to be with us in person, tune in to 92.5 FM Warroad for our radio worship broadcast. Watch this video for an adorable telling of the story of Jonah:
Prayer Threads is about using skills with a crochet hook, knitting needles, or a sewing machine to create, prayerfully, projects to be shared with others. The purpose is to reach out to those who are going through difficult circumstances or loss and to provide a tangible comfort and reminder of God’s love for them on behalf of the Prayer Threads Ministry of Zion Lutheran Church.
You are encouraged to join with others in this ministry – either with the group or on your own, as your time permits. Prayer Threads will be creating lap robes, shawls, quillos, throws, shrugs, and capelets to share. You may use your own pattern or patterns are available at Zion.
The only guidelines are:
- all items can be knit, crocheted, or sewn
- lap robes should measure 40 x 48 (or 40 x 40 if you’d prefer square)
- shawls should measure 28 x 58
- quillos should measure about 36 x 66
- shrugs and capelets should be size medium or large
You may drop off finished Prayer Threads at the church office. If you know someone who could use a physical reminder of our prayers for them, contact the pastor.
Dear Lord,
Please bless my hands, that I may prayerfully fashion a creation of strength, faith, healing, comfort, and love. May these Prayer Threads be a reminder to the recipient of Your never-ending love, grace, presence, and protection.
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
