Join us this week for one of our worship services! In the reading from the book of Jonah, God changes his mind about punishing Nineveh for their evil ways, and Jonah is angry about this change; while in the reading from Philippians, Paul writes from prison that God is gracious and merciful, abounding in steadfast love. Then in Matthew’s Gospel reading, Jesus tells a parable about God’s generosity, challenging the common assumption that God rewards people according to what they have earned or deserve. Sunday morning worship begins at 9:00 am. For those who are unable to be with us in person, tune in to 92.5 FM Warroad for our radio worship broadcast. Watch this video for an adorable telling of the story of Jonah:
Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church!
Zion Lutheran Church is a community of faith in Warroad, Minnesota affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
We are a congregation of about 525 baptized members located in the city of Warroad, MN, a small town in Northern Minnesota just five miles south of the Canadian border on Lake of the Woods.
Zion was founded in July of 1904 when 17 charter members voted to establish “Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Sion Church of Warroad, Minnesota.” Over the course of more than a hundred years, we’ve called two different church buildings “home” and have plans to break ground on a third.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to our congregation, and introduce to you the ministries that are offered at Zion Lutheran Church. The worship services, educational classes, fellowship opportunities, and leadership and staff are all reflected here. But who we are as a faith community can’t really be captured on an internet web site; this can only be done in person. So, we invite you to join us for worship soon! Know that you will be welcomed, but not singled out as visitors. You will be invited to share in communion, but not pressured to do so. And you will be encouraged to worship with us again, but not pestered.
