We’ll welcome new members, receive a noisy offering, and have a blessing of Quilts and Kits to be sent to Lutheran World Relief, followed by a potluck brunch after the worship service. In this week’s reading from the Book of Acts, Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit so that he can proclaim salvation in Jesus’ name to the religious authorities. John writes in his first letter that Jesus’ death on our behalf is the clearest demonstration of divine love, that is the very love we share with others, not just through our words but especially through our deeds. In John’s gospel reading there is a recalling of Psalm 23. Jesus describes himself as the shepherd who cares for his sheep, willing to die for them, and he is able to overcome death for them.
